United Kingdom: casino licensing and territorial scope
Use the Gambling Commission register for Great Britain, while keeping Northern Ireland’s different legal framework in view.

Great Britain and the United Kingdom are different scopes
The Gambling Commission regulates remote gambling offered to consumers in Great Britain, including services whose key equipment is abroad. Great Britain covers England, Scotland and Wales. A website serving that market cannot establish its position merely by displaying an overseas licence.
Northern Ireland needs a separate explanation. The Commission says it does not regulate the provision of remote gambling there, although advertising remote gambling to Northern Irish consumers requires a Commission licence under the Gambling Act 2005. Its National Lottery remit extends across the United Kingdom.
This is why a country selector labelled “United Kingdom” can be too broad for a legal conclusion. The casino may use that label in its terms; the regulator’s jurisdiction still needs to be read precisely.
Check the company behind the brand
The Commission’s public register is the starting point for checking licensed businesses. Match the company and website details and inspect the relevant activity. A software supplier and a company permitted to offer gambling to consumers play different roles.
| Detail to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Legal company | A brand name alone may be ambiguous |
| Website or trading name | Similar names can belong to different services |
| Licensed activity | Permission has a defined scope |
| Current status | An old licence reference may no longer be current |
Read any linked regulatory action in its own terms. A licence is not a guarantee that every dispute will be resolved in the customer’s favour, and a country acceptance statement is not evidence of that licence.
How this directory handles UK restrictions
When an operator explicitly excludes the United Kingdom, Slotron records that restriction as written. We do not narrow it to Great Britain or invent an exception for Northern Ireland. If its documents disagree, the evidence retains both claims.
An accessible homepage does not establish account eligibility. Restrictions can apply to residence or physical location and may become relevant at verification or withdrawal. Those conditions belong in the public evidence rather than being hidden behind a simple availability badge.
For questions about a specific location or dispute, start with the official territorial guidance below. This overview does not turn a casino’s marketing claim into legal advice for every part of the UK.
