Germany: checking the domain, game and gambling permission
Germany regulates online gambling by product and territory. The official whitelist is the starting point for checking a site; an international licence badge alone does not settle its German status.

Start with the official whitelist
Germany's joint gambling authority, the GGL, maintains an official list of permitted operators. Entries identify the company, websites, gambling products and territory. Compare the actual domain you are looking at with the entry. Similar branding or a different address is not enough.
Read the product column as well as the operator name. The register distinguishes virtual slot games, online poker and online casino games. A permission for one does not automatically cover the others. Some online casino entries have a named federal state as their territory.
Why the type of game matters
The GGL's explanation of permitted gambling describes its assigned responsibilities, including virtual slots and online poker. Online casino games under section 22c fall outside that particular GGL licensing responsibility and involve the relevant state authority.
| Check | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Company and domain | The exact entry in the official whitelist |
| Product permission | The listed gambling type |
| Geographic scope | The entry's territory, including any named state |
| Responsible authority | The authority identified for that permission |
The word "casino" in a site's name is too broad to answer these questions. A slot directory and a live table service can require different checks even when they share a brand.
Accounts, limits and exclusions
The GGL's player-protection overview describes identity checks and the LUGAS systems. The usual cross-provider deposit ceiling is €1,000 a month, with regulated exceptions. It is a deposit limit, not a statement of what someone can afford or a promise to cap every loss at that amount.
OASIS is the player-exclusion system administered by Regierungspräsidium Darmstadt. Its player information explains applications and removal procedures. Use that official guidance for the type and duration of an exclusion; closing one casino account is a separate action.
What this country page establishes
Slotron's country filter describes sourced operator policies. "Accepted" records a stated policy; it does not certify a German licence, a particular game's legality or your eligibility. Open the profile to read the source and any exceptions before comparing it with the official register.
A website loading in Germany is another separate observation. It cannot replace the licensing check. Likewise, a coin listed on an operator's general payment page does not prove that the payment method is offered to German customers under a local permission.
If the register and an operator's statement differ, retain both pieces of evidence and identify the conflict. You can send the domain, source and relevant wording through Contacts. Our Responsible play page also links to support resources.
